![]() "Who" is holding a Christmas Fayre This year Castle Rushen High School’s Christmas Fayre is being run by one of its Young Enterprise (Junior Achievement) companies "Who" in association with the Manx National Farmer’s Union. Who’s Christmas Fayre is being held at Castle Rushen High School on Thursday 7th December from 7-9pm. There will be a huge variety of stalls including games, charities, fruit and veg, crafts and Christmas cards, cakes, meat, dairy, jams and preserves and stalls run by year groups from the school representing each house. The Christmas Fayre is open to anyone and everyone (entrance is 50p for adults, children free). There will also be refreshments, and entertainment including a magic show and a raffle. The Christmas Fayre is an exciting collaboration, bringing together young Manx people and Manx farmers. The aim is to show the public how important young people are to the future of Isle of Man business, and to showcase the wide variety of farm products currently being sold directly to the public. Shoppers will not only be able to have fun and enjoy the festivities of Christmas, but will also be able to join in celebrating the importance of both young people and agriculture to our economy. The Junior Achievement Company, “Who”, hopes to attract a wide variety of different customers by combining “young” and “old” enterprise together. Spokesperson Alison Corkill said: “it is very important that young members of the community show their continued support for the local Manx farming community especially during these next few difficult years.” “Who” also hopes to benefit from the experience of running stalls alongside other market professionals - to learn skills to help their business progress even further. “The Junior Achievement Organisation is so important because it encourages young people to learn about business by doing business,” said Alison. This event is strongly supported by Manx National Farmer’s Union. ffinlo Costain, the general secretary of the Manx NFU says: “Community events are so important in developing better links between those who produce food and those who eat food. I’m so pleased that “Who” have shown such enthusiasm for working with Manx farmers. Without the support of everyone who loves excellent quality local food we may lose the majority of Manx farms over the next few years. This is why it’s so exciting that Castle Rushen High School’s Young Enterprise team took the initiative and got in touch with us.” The “Who” Christmas Fayre will have an exciting mix of stalls, incorporating the farmer’s market, together with lots of festive fun. Come and join us at Castle Rushen High School and show your support for ‘young’ and ‘old’ enterprise. It’s sure to be a great evening for all the family!
