I Love ManxChef Competition Launched

I Love Manx, the joint campaign that champions the provider of quality local produce and raises awareness of food and farming related issues, is launching the I Love ManxChef competition at a specially organised event hosted by Marks & Spencer in Douglas on Friday 19th June.

The competition is aimed at all talented cooks who love cooking with Manx produce to show just how versatile and delicious local food is. Entries of recipes, using predominately Manx food, will be split into two categories (North vs. South). Four entrants from each region will then go through to regional heats to be held at the Southern Show on Saturday 25th July, for Southern entrants, and the Royal Manx Show on Saturday 8th August for Northern entrants.

The finals will be judged by The Hairy Bikers and will take place at the Food and Drink Festival on Sunday 27th September at the Villa Marina.

To launch the competition DAFF Minister, Phil Gawne MHK and Vice President of the Manx National Farmers' Union, Ray Craine, tried out their culinary skills with cookery expert, Kathryn Sentence of Relish Cookery School in Marks and Spencer's Food Hall.

Further details and entry forms are available via the I Love Manx website or by contacting the Manx NFU office.
The closing date for all enteries to the I Love ManxChef competition is Friday July 17th.

I Love Manx is a joint initiative of the Manx NFU and the Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry.
